High School Principal Welcome

             Welcome to Kenyon-Wanamingo High School!

My name is Matt Ryan and I'm looking forward to the 17-18 school year at K-W Schools!  This will be my 20th year as a staff member at K-W and my third year as the 7-12 Principal.  I spent my first 10 years at K-W as an Elementary Classroom Teacher in 2nd and 3rd grade.  That was followed by two years as 5-8 Administrative Intern and five years as K-6 Principal before moving to the 7-12 Principal Position.  I have also filled the role as Head Wrestling Coach each of my previous 19 years in the district.

In August of 2006 my family and I moved to Wanamingo and in August of 2011 we moved to Kenyon. My wife Molly works for Compeer as a Sr. Director of Business Solutions & Project Management. We have three kids. Tyler is 17 and is in 11th Grade at KW High School this year. Brianna is 15 and in 9th Grade. Rachel is 11 and is a 6th grader.

I am proud to be a member of the Kenyon Wanamingo community, and I will do my best to give us the type of school we have come to expect and deserve. Every decision I make will have the best interest of the students' education in mind and will be done in a fair and honest way. I believe in open communication and I am always ready to listen.

I am committed to challenging our students to their highest level of achievement. Three areas of focus for me as 7-12 Principal include providing a safe, secure, and positive learning environment for our students, putting a focus on making sure our students are connected and have positive relationships with their teachers and other adults in the building, and using our time with students as efficiently and effectively as possible each day.

If you have a question, concern, or would like to communicate with me about anything, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. I can be reached by phone (507-789-6186 ext. 7006) or email - mattryan@kw.k12.mn.us

Thank you for your ongoing support of our school and students. We're glad you're here!
